The Makati Dog and Cat Hospital traces its roots back to 1927 when Dr. Sixto Almeda Carlos y Nepomuceno founded the first Dog and Cat Clinic in Manila at Marquez de Comillas, later known as Romualdez Street, Ermita. Living above the clinic, Dr. Sixto personally attended to pets as early as 4:00 AM and was also known for treating horses in San Lazaro and Sta. Ana, even offering free services every Tuesday. 

In 1958, his son, Dr. Enrique Rodriguez Carlos, took over the Manila hospital, which became the first dedicated dog and cat hospital in the city. 

In 1962, Dr. Enrique R. Carlos, together with his son Dr. Enrique Torrella Carlos, established the Makati Dog and Cat Hospital in Bel-Air, Makati, where it continues to operate today at Gen. Luna corner Algier Street, Poblacion. Under Dr. Enrique T. Carlos, the hospital grew and modernized, laying the groundwork for the next generation. 

Today, Dr. Sixto Enrique Siapno Carlos leads the hospital, bringing modern veterinary care while upholding the Carlos family’s nearly century-long tradition of compassionate service to pets and their families.
